Project Evaluation

I'm writing an evaluation but given that I am going to continue the project it makes it a little odd. Overall I am happy with this project but it hasn't been easy and there are a few things that I probably should have/could have different. Particularly in terms of keeping my own interest in it.

Using social networking to collect and post the wishes was a good idea and one of the main factors I had ongoing inspiration and motivation for the project however I need to investigate and could have done with a lot more contribution. For the purpose of this university project it did provide me with enough wishes but for the project to go further and for the purpose of my book I would like to have a lot more. I was also hoping that I would get people submitting postcards and photographs rather than just text for their wishes but this was awkward to achieve.

If I were to do this project again and for the continuation of it I will try and increase the number of wishes and productivity by trying different methods. Posting stamped/addressed [to a PO box] postcards with 'I wish...' on might encourage a few more submissions and give me more different handwriting. I would also do more appeals on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and any other social networking type site or messageboard I could think of. Also leaving more of them in coffee shops and collecting them by hand [rather than relying on people to go online and post a wish] would be a good idea.

Ideally my main way of presenting this would be in an installation form but I feel it works equally well as a book. Sadly it appears my book will not be arriving in time for hand-in, therefore I shall submit prints of a selection of wishes and the book can go towards my degree show and showing off the project.

Something that I think works well from this is the range of content I received. I was honestly unsure of what types of wishes I would receive but I got a lot more than I bargained for and in terms of exploring my own identity which was actually my initial start point back in September I felt myself connecting with some of these people despite only knowing about what them what they allowed me to. It is often easy to think that we are alone in what we desire, but really, we all desire similar if not the same things.

Prints to accompany my book

Obviously as I mentioned in the previous posts, while an installation is the idea way for me to present this project it is not convenient nor do-able for the hand-in on the 11th so I am making a book.

However, due to postal issues it appears my book will not make it in time. The prints were originally meant to be 10-12 images that would accompany the book and be slightly larger. They aren't really representative of the project as a whole.

These are the images I have selected that are to be printed and put in sleeves and then a box. If by some miracle the book does arrive then they will just be presented with that to show off the images inside slightly bigger.
